Letter from the President

As the 2011 president of Montgomery West HOA, I would like to thank previous board members and you as individual homeowners for your time and efforts to make Montgomery West a welcoming neighborhood.  With groundbreaking for the new Gaithersburg High School this spring, the realization of a new school will further enhance our neighborshood’s location and our individual property values.

Please note articles in this newsletter to help us keep Montgomery West financial sound and maintained as our beautiful home.  I hope you will see a few things you can do to improve our neighborhood.  The board will continue with spring cleanup activites and provide small landscaping improvements to our common areas as our budget allows.  This year we plan to repave the remaining parking places in front of townhomes that were not repaved 3 years ago.

We are encouraged that homeowners are still planning future improvements/expansions to their properties despite the economic downturn.  Please remember to submit AERC applications for improvements and allow 10 days for approval.

As the spring approaches with warmer weather, we encourage you to meet neighbors you may not know.  It strengthens us as a community if you know your neighbors.  Take time as you may walk around our neighborhood to stop and introduce yourself to others.

As always, we look forward to hearing from you.

                   Sincerely,   John Patton

Satellite Dishes

If you have a satellite dish or are considering installing one, please note that we require the dish to be located on the back side of your roof or in a location that it is not visible from the front of your home.  This should not interfere with the receiving a signal or performance of your satellite dish.  Several homeowners have already relocated their dishes so they are not visible from the front of their homes.

Mark your calendars -  May 7 Community Curbside Bulk Trash Pick-Up.

Most items picked up… except appliances and other metal items.  Place items at your curb by 7 a.m.

Treasurer’s Update

Do you pay for your homeowner’s dues through online bill pay?  If so, be sure to update your settings for the earlier payment schedule which was started in the 1st quarter and don’t forget to add the extra $10 per quarter for increased dues.  Thank you for your prompt payment of dues.

Feeding the Crows

Neighbors are reminded to put their trash in receptacle containers with covers. The board has received several complaints about trash bags being placed out which has resulted in crows and other animals tearing into these bags and strewing trash around.  We need everyone’s cooperation to address this problem.

Spring Clean-up of Common Areas

March 19 (Raindate April 2)

Come join with us as we walk thru our common areas to collect trash and debris.  We will meet at Montgomery West sign near the Kinglet townhouses at 10 am. Coffee and donuts provided.  Students can earn SSL hours.

Algae on North side of Homes

To improve the value of your home, we suggest homeowners wash the algae growth off the north side of their homes yearly. Home Depot or Lowe's sell a product that you connect to your hose and wash the algae away.  Quick and easy…give it a try.
